Name: Furyu, Shinjo
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Rank: Oinin Captain
Village: Kumogaruke no sato / Kaminari no kuni
Personality/Attitude: Shinjo at first glance seems like a cold, introverted person. He's not always in a bad mood, but his typical expression isn't usually a smile. Shinjo merely possesses a powerful inner calm due to events early in his lifetime. In reality, Shinjo is a confident, focused person who tends to be in deep thought or concentration, thus the lack of smiling a lot. It is mostly the presence of friends that opens him up and more of him leaks out. In battle and in the field, he focuses on the task at hand, and can even be a little ruthless at getting it done.
Appearance or Pictures:
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 153 lbs.
Eyes: Silvery blue
Hair: Short, brown
Build: Athletic, masculine
Equipment/Inventory:
Ragunarokku (Ragnarok)
Type: Sword
Category: Offense
User: Shinjo
Description: Ragnarok is the name of Shinjo's special sword. It is shaped as more of a double-edge sword than a normal katana. What it has most in common with average katana is length, measuring up at three feet long. It lacks the normal protective circular piece most katana have between the handle of the weapon and the blade. In its place is a second, tonfa-like handle measuring five inches. This allows Shinjo to have a wide array of possible attacks and strikes, as his sword as two methods of being wielded. The edges of the blade have been sharpened extensively over long periods of time, and have become so thin some have compared it to "cutting like a laser". However, Ragnarok itself has no special abilities, just a high rate of adaptability and superior cutting power.
Chakra Nature: Futon / Raiton
Known Jutsu:
Ninjutsu
Kazayoke (Wind Break)
A ninjutsu used when Shinjo bears his katana. Futon chakra is charged into the blade and released in a blast when Shinjo slashes an object. This adds explosive impact to the blow, which tends to blow the hit object to pieces. In human cases, this is more often than not fatal.
Siefuu (West Wind)
A ninjutsu technique using the wind element. After a short string of kata, Shinjo causes a great gust of wind to sweep in front of him from left to right. This wind is not as destructive as Daitoppa (Great Breakthough), but is still more than powerful enough to blow unsuspecting victims off their feet, as well as knocking projectiles off their proper path.
Toufuu (East Wind)
A ninjutsu using the wind element. After a short string of kata, Shinjo causes a great gust of wind to sweep in front of him from right to left. This wind is not as destructive as Daitoppa (Great Breakthrough), but is still more than powerful enough to blow unsuspecting victims off their feet, as well as knocking projectiles off their proper path.
Yamaoroshi (Wind Blowing Down)
A ninjutsu using the wind element. After a modest string of hand seals, Shinjo causes a gust of wind to blow down from directly over the area. It is not as destructive as Daitoppa (Great Breakthrough), but is still powerful, and can blow airborn objects, animals and people to the ground with great force, often knocking them off balance. That tends to make their recovery from such a blast very difficult.
Daikaze Gaiza (Great Wind Geyser)
A ninjutsu using the wind element. Using only one hand seal, Shinjo charges chakra into his fist. Slamming it into the ground, a great blast of wind erupts from the ground within ten foot radius. This massive gust lasts for about three seconds before the winds dissipate. The winds can knock airborne objects and people back into the air, and depending on timing, can be used both offensively and defensively.
Kaze no Yaiba (Blade of Wind)
Kaze no Yaiba is a ninjutsu using the wind element. This jutsu allows the user to send out a blade of wind. Being wind and thus intangible, it is impossible to block.
Futon: Daitoppa (Wind Release: Great Breakthrough)
Daitoppa is a powerful ninjutsu using the wind element. This jutsu creates a massive blast of wind from out of the user's mouth that is capable of leveling the entire area in front of them.
Kumo Gakure (Hidden Cloud)
The Kumogakure version of the Kiri Gakure no Jutsu. Rather than creating mist about the battlefield, this technique creates fog for the user to hide in. This effects everyone, even the user -- but normally the user is trained enough to locate his prey.
Kage Bushin (Shadow Clone)
This ninjutsu creates a solid clone of the user. Chakra is evenly distributed between the user and whatever clones he or she makes. Being solid, the clones can take damage, as well as deal it, and must be dealt a sufficient amount of damage before dissipating. When the clones do "poof" all knowledge they acquired is instantly transferred to the creator. The clones also have the power to use and jutsu known by their maker upon creation.
Futon: Misora (Wind Release: Beautiful Sky)
This enables the user to fly with minimal Chakra. By manipulating the density of the air around the user and raising it into the air, the user can then fly. A whitish glow is typically seen around the user when this is in effect. Chakra drain is less than average. Does not require hand seals.
Futon: Kokuu (Wind Release: Empty Sky)
This technique forcefully removes the air in a target location, and prevents air from entering that location until the user ends it. When used on an enemy's target location, this can quickly cause suffocation within a couple minutes.
Futon: Nottori (Wind Release: Skyjacking)
This technique solidifies the air around an enemy, preventing any and all movement. It is not immediate, and thus if enough force is used or very sudden movement, the target can break free before it completely binds them.
Futon: (Wind Release: Skyjacking Movement)
A ninjutsu using the wind element. Instead of a person, the user compresses and solidifies the air around a different object. The object caught in this ninjutsu can then be freely moved about via the user's will, and can both be thrown in any direction as well as used to block other attacks the nin may face.
Futon: Sorashaito (Wind Release: Sky Footprints)
This technique is impressive and very hard to predict. Shinjo slams his hand to the ground, and the effect is that the air above the foe is solidified and gains weight, an incredible weight. This compressed air slams into the ground, leaving a deep footprint of a dog, yet the size of one of Gamabunta's feet. This can easily crush a foe that does not notice the disturbances in the air.
Fuuton: Soratama (Wind Release: Sky Bullet)
A ninjutsu using the wind element. This jutsu sends an invisible sphere of compressed and explosive air at a single target, or multiple targets.
Minamikaze (Southernly Wind)
Once activated, this jutsu causes the ground on a one-hundred foot diameter to be covered by a thin layer of cloud. Shinjo can walk on this easily, with his expert knowledge of futon jutsu. His enemy, however, would treat this as ice and likely hardly be able to keep their balance.

Taijutsu
Ikiwotsuku (Take My Breath Away)
An incapacitating blow delivered bottom center to a person's ribcage, usually with a fist strike or palm thrust. This strike literally "knocks the wind out of the target", forcing them to gasp for air as if they had none. This renders them incapable of most any form of attack if hit, as they will be trying to hard to recover and catch their breath. Typically used with the first gate, but is not required to be. Shinjo has found it useful to use this in combination with Futon: Kokuu (Wind Release: Empty Sky), as it both forces the need for heavy breathing upon a person while at the same time removing all air from around them. Usage in this way causes near-instant suffocation.
Himei (Shriek)
A certain way of re-sheathing ones blade. It is done with such speed and precision, that for the moments the blade is moving back into the sheath, it emits a high-pitched sound similar to a low shriek that drowns out all other sound. Both Shinjo and anyone in the area is rendered temporarily "deaf" by this technique for its duration. The deafening shriek lasts for four seconds, each extra katana adding another four afterward. Shinjo can only use this for four seconds, as he only has one blade.
Kairetsu (Cleavage)
A feat of strength with the use of the katana, used against large objects. The user slashes in such a way that they cleave the object cleanly in two, letting it fall to either side of them. Most commonly used on large rocks and boulders, this can also be used against other large objects, and some ninjutsu.
Niryu: Ichini no Kaze (Two Style: Wind In Two Forms)
A style of kenjutsu used by the Cloud ninja Shinjo in tandem with his blade Ragunarokku (Ragnarok). This style's focus is speed and precision, combining them both with the instant adaptability of having to different forms of wielding- both with the handle of a normal katana and the second five inch handle perpendicular to the normal one.
Kaze-tenmetsu (Wing Flickering)
This kenjutsu style adds slashes of wind to the weapon strikes of a Futon user. These slashes are long, two feet away from the tip of the weapon. Like a Kaze no Yaiba (Blade of Wind), virtually nothing can defend against them, and they can cut through anything but summoned weapons and defensive jutsu. Does not require hand seals, but Shinjo can only use it with his Ragunarokku (Ragnarok).
Background/History:
Growing up...
Furyu was born in Kumogaruke no sato to both his mother and father. prior to birth, his mom was a retired kunoichi while his father was still active as one of Kumo many accomplished ANBU Captains. Shinjo's mother was the primary caretaker while his father went on mission after mission to support them monetarily, sometimes being having enough spare time to spend extended periods at home with them. In terms of parenting techniques, his mother and father were somewhat opposites. On the one hand, Shinjo had his caring mother around most of the time, teaching him the basic things a parent and mother would to her son. On the other hand, he also had his father around whenever he had the spare time. Though he was not a merciless dictator, his father's actions and caring methods were not the kindest. Pre-academy training was as tough as Shinjo could take without pushing him over the edge, and soon Shinjo found that we was to be enrolled in Kumo's academy.
As a Genin...
Thanks to the harsh training provided by his father, Shinjo found adjusting the the rigors of academy life and training easy. In class he was attentive. In practice he was envied. And once it came time to graduate and be put on teams, he was a highly sought after partner. Once he was actually placed on a team, he and his genin partners and sensei began their training the very next day. Their missions were low-ranking mostly, but still built a very good base for them to jump off of. Once the basics were down, most of their missions increased in difficulty, stopping just after a single B-rank mission. After the team had an obvious streak of success, there was a short period of rest before the chuunin exams would start.
As a Chuunin...
As Shinjo and his team entered the exams at the general age of thirteen or so, Shinjo being the oldest at fourteen. His smarts and cool head spread to his teammates as they passed both the first and second part of the exams with relative ease. Then of course came the month long break between the preliminary matches between teams and the main part of the tournament. While in recess, Shinjo and his team kept up their training, until tragedy struck his father.
It happened at night time when he was on his way home from a mission in a far out country. He and his squad had stopped to rest for the night when a storm brewed overhead while they attempted to sleep. It quickly worsened as the squad woke up, and by the time they had their things together and would start to move out, it had reached severe status. Thus, Shinjo's father and mates found actually getting back to Kumo with any speed was near-impossible, and then it took a turn for the worse. The storm had gotten severe enough to the point where it spawned a tornado. Even though they were strong shinobi, they were no match for the power of nature and were killed in the freak storm.
News of his father's death devastated Shinjo, and from that loss and devastation came a fear of strong winds and storms, and a general unsteady mind. His father's death stuck with him for some time, including when the chuunin exams resumed. Needless to say, Shinjo's mindset made it almost impossible to focus clearly and he ended up losing his match. His teammates lost their matches for unrelated reasons. It would take a sobering, heart-to-heart talk with not only his teammates and sensei, but his parents and other friends as well for Shinjo to realize that he would eventually have to face his demons. This was proven a success, and Shinjo had a resolution. "I can't let the power of wind and storms hold me forever. So instead, I shall take that power and make it my own... I... will become a master of Futon jutsu."
And so, Shinjo worked with renewed effort toward his goal, and toward his team advancing the next time they tried out in the Chuunin Exams. By this time, Shinjo has already learned a notable host of Futon jutsu which all work to his advantage. When the matches are over and selection begins, Shinjo and his entire team all advance onward.
As an Oinin Captain...
By the time he is an oinin captain, Shinjo is twenty years of age. His skills and knowledge of Futon jutsu are well respected and only continue to grow as time passes. Missions go by like clockwork for him, and one by one his list of Futon jutsu continues to grow. Years later at the age of twenty-six, Shinjo is acknowledged as a master of Futon jutsu. He keeps in close contact with Shuurai, his female teammate from his genin years. Following a similar path of mastery as Shinjo, she has become a powerful user of Raiton jutsu. Together, aside from going on constant missions, they also have a goal of forming their own oinin squad of themselves and three others. Up to now, they have not been that successful. But things look to change in the near future.
